Away from Home

A one day workshop for ex-boarders

Many ex-boarders describe feeling rootless and displaced in their adult lives...

In this workshop we will help you to identify what was lost & acknowledge how you survived. In an atmosphere of respect & confidentiality, we will look at the rich variety of ways we developed to hide & protect ourselves. We will question how the stories we tell & the behaviours we have adopted continue to support, protect, frustrate or limit us.

The workshop will introduce you to the way we work with Boarding School Survivor issues and we will explore together what you need at this point in your process of recovery.

Facilitators: Nicola Miller & Darrel Hunneybell are both experienced psychotherapists and are part of a group of therapists trained specifically to work with ex-boarders (www.boardingrecovery.org.uk).

Darrel Hunneybell is a psychotherapist accredited with the UKCP having trained with The Institute of Psychosynthesis. He is also a clinical supervisor working with both individuals and groups. He has over twenty years experience in the NHS and Local Government, in both Social Services and Education. He brings an understanding of the effects of abandonment, alienation and institutionalisation to his work with the psychological effects of the public school experience. Alongside his work co-facilitating the Boarding School Survivors workshops with Nick Duffell he runs Men's Groups exploring the themes of identity and Self discovery. www.darrelhunneybellcounselling.co.uk

Nicola Miller trained in Gestalt Psychotherapy, Energetic Integration, & working with adult survivors of Boarding School and most recently the Pesso-Boyden System (PBSP). She has had a Body Psychotherapy practice in Leeds for 15 years and is a co-facilitator for the Women's Boarding School Survivor workshops. www.nicola-miller.co.uk
